The project
Onzi is a companion app for the 2026 World Cup sticker album, and the project where I had the most freedom: I made it for myself. I designed the brand and every screen, built the iPhone and Android apps with AI agents, wrote the site in six languages, and took the iPhone app to the App Store.
The problem
The 2026 album’s checklist runs to 1,156 entries, and half the fun is trading doubles with other people. Collectors keep track on paper checklists, spreadsheets and group chats, and trades happen face to face, by reading lists out loud.
- 01Logging is tedious: every new pack means finding codes and ticking boxes by hand.See how it was solved
- 02Nobody knows at a glance what they still need, or what they have twice.See how it was solved
- 03Trading is slow and lopsided: two people compare lists by ear, and one side often gives more than it gets.See how it was solved
- 04The album is global, but most tools speak one language and ask for an account before anything else.See how it was solved
- 05And for the app itself: the official marks are off limits, so the brand had to carry the tournament’s spirit without them.See how it was solved
How I solved it
One answer per pain, shown in the screens as they ship.
01
Scan instead of typing

Aim at the back of a sticker. The code is read on the phone, with nothing to type.
02
The whole album at a glance

Four ways into the album
The home screen for the whole album, the album by group, a single sticker, and search by the code printed on its back.

Have, need and doubles for the whole album, with scan, trade and doubles one tap away.
03
A fair trade in seconds, with no signal
Recorded in both albums, even offline.
The same trade, in the app’s real screens
They light up with the step being played. Choose one to jump there.
The scene is drawn in HTML with the app’s type, colors and demo session; the four phone screens are the app’s own.
When a trade doesn’t line up
Most of the time two collections don’t match perfectly. The app says why in plain words and points to the next move, instead of showing an empty list.

João has stickers you need, but you have none he needs yet. A trade is always one for one, so the app says what’s missing.

Six languages, and nothing to sign up for
Slide 2, in six languages
Nothing to sign up for
No account and no login, and the App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”. The collection syncs through the user’s own iCloud, and a .zip carries it between iPhone and Android.

One screen with the album’s flags, and straight to collecting.

The tournament’s spirit, without its marks

49 pastels, one for each team and one for the special set, kept as Pencil variables and mirrored in the iPhone and Android code, so a card reads as Brazil’s or Japan’s before the flag does.

Outcomes & learnings
- Live on the App Store and free for good: no ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases.
- The Android app is built to parity and trades with the iPhone through the same QR code; it waits for its Play Store release.
- One Pencil file holds the screens, the store slides in six languages and the color tokens both apps share.
- Every trade, scan and backup works with no signal and no account.
What I learned
With no client and no brief, the concept had to hold itself together. One idea, trading stickers face to face, set the name, the card, the colors and every screen.
A rejection can be a brief. App Review’s three notes became one rule, and the brand is better for it.

Cut before launch
The paywall that didn’t ship
Onzi Premium, a one-time R$ 19,90 unlock for the whole album, was designed and built with its error and success states. I removed every in-app purchase before launch, so the app could ship free for everyone.
